The Lower Saxony State Parliament visits the Council of South Tyrol

The Petitions Committee of the Lower Saxony Parliament visited the Council of South Tyrol to learn about various aspects of the autonomy, the citizens’ right of appeal, inclusion in schools and minority rights.

The Center for Autonomy Experience introduced the members of the Petitions Committee to the South Tyrolean autonomy. The members showed particular interest in questions about autonomy, multilingualism and the European citizens’ initiative Minority Safepack. In an interesting discussion, challenges and developments in the field of European minority protection were discussed. The delegation also met with the President of the provincial council, Rita Mattei, members of the Council of South Tyrol, the chair of the 1st Legislative Committee, Magdalena Amhof, and the People’s Advocate Gabriele Morandell.
